The vintage look and vibrant tone of the patented Goodtime Special tone ring set this American made banjo apart. Clearly louder than the Goodtime Two and great for playing in a band setting. Featuring Midnight Maple Fingerboard and Vintage Artisan inspired inlays! Made in America.
The Artisan Goodtime Special has the look of an older banjo with the rich brown stain, Deering fiddle shaped peghead and planetary banjo tuners. The Artisan Goodtime Special can be heard with a sweet voice with sustain that complements all the instruments in a band. Tuned to an open G Chord, with the spikes already installed, you can easily play in other keys.
The stunning new Artisan Goodtime banjos epitomizes Greg Deering’s lifelong vision for the Deering Banjo Company – to make the best sounding, best playing, best looking, and best value U.S.A. made banjo that he possibly could. Pearloid vintage artisan style inlays pop off the new Midnight Maple fingerboard, while the peg head is adorned with a beautifully engraved design.
The Artisan Goodtime Special banjo is an achievement in keeping the cost down while providing an instrument that will stay in tune and perform reliably because it is made with precision by skilled American craftsmen. Made efficiently at our factory in Spring Valley (San Diego area of California), this is a comfortably playable banjo with a wonderfully bright tone. It is a solid dependable instrument that is immensely playable with excellent tonality and clarity.

When the Goodtime banjo was first released in 1996, it revolutionized the banjo world cementing its place as a lightweight, affordable, great-sounding American-made banjo, heralded for its affordability and great value.
Today, the Deering Goodtime banjo is as popular as ever, continuing to be the choice among musicians of all skill levels, thanks to its excellent craftsmanship, superior sound quality, and affordable price point. It is also the most recommended banjo for beginners!
Central to the success of the Goodtime banjo is the construction which utilizes high-quality materials and components, including a three-ply violin-grade maple rim, and an exceptionally stable and slender hard rock maple neck, ensuring that it delivers a rich, full sound with excellent clarity and projection. The Goodtime tailpiece is our own design, the tension hoop is rolled in-house from raw metal. We took time to source the best possible tuners to compliment the Goodtime affordability and topped it off with the best banjo strings on the market.
This emphasis on quality also makes the Goodtime banjo incredibly easy to play, thanks to its slim neck profile, low string action, and smooth fretwork. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, you'll appreciate the Goodtime banjo's comfortable feel and excellent playability.
All Goodtime banjos are made by skilled craftsmen in our only facility, located in San Diego, CA. And at only 4 pounds, the weight makes it ideal for both children and adults to play and travel with conveniently.
Even when you eventually step up to an upperline model, we are certain that your trusty Goodtime will remain a go-to banjo.

The Goodtime Two is similar to the Goodtime Openback, featuring a natural blonde maple vibe with a satin finish to protect it. The heart of the Goodtime Two is the same 3-ply violin-grade maple rim, which when paired with the 3-ply resonator, produces a rich, golden tone and offers a significant increase in volume from its openback counterpart.

Now featuring a radiused fingerboard! A radiused fingerboard is an arched fingerboard which you will find on most electric and modern acoustic guitars. This arch fits the fold of your hand better and makes it easier for both your left and right hand to play the banjo.
Curly maple wood, -06- tone ring, and flower inlays are the other key elements of the Deering Maple Blossom banjo. Maple Blossom is made from eastern violin grade curly maple, stained with a dark walnut stain, and adorned with flower mother of pearl inlays. When this individually selected wood is built into a banjo with the genuine Deering -06-bronze tone ring, 3-ply violin grade maple rim, and one piece zinc flange, the result is a banjo that is so bright, crisp and clear that every note pops out of this banjo with precision and power.
The Deering -06- tone ring produces a beautiful, balanced overtone spectrum. Its weight is ideal for most styles played on the banjo. A softer touch will provide you with as much sustain as you ever want, a sharper attack will produce a distinct pop and accurate note separation. You will notice no dead spots over the entire fingerboard. The beautiful highs and powerful well rounded bass is the result of intense study of alloys and shapes which resulted in the new -06- tone ring you hear in the great tone of the Maple Blossom banjo today.

We are excited to announce the newest addition to our Learn To Play series—the Mandy Harvey Learn To Play Signature Series Tenor Ukulele!
Mandy is a singer, songwriter, author, and inspirational speaker who lost her hearing at the age of 19. She came to national attention on Season 12 of America’s Got Talent. Her inspiring performances have been viewed millions of times and won the coveted “Golden Buzzer” from Simon Cowell.
This uke comes with everything a beginner needs to start playing songs right away, including Mandy’s most popular songs, accessible via the Kala App, free online lessons, or the included booklet.
The Mandy Harvey Learn To Play Signature Series Tenor Ukulele is made of Satin Mahogany and includes white binding and original artwork reminiscent of 1800s Swiss folk art. The delicate vine pattern with birds and flowers was created by Mandy’s sister, making this a very personal, one-of-a-kind piece of art.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have people in my life that have continually encouraged me to try—to push past self-doubt and persist. My grandmother was one of those people. She cultivated a desire in me to do my best through encouragement and her confidence in what I could achieve. The artwork on my Signature Series Tenor Ukulele was inspired by my grandmother and the beautiful gardens she always kept. It’s an image of growth and persistence and symbolic of what we can achieve if we always remember to ‘Try.’”
