In 2024—the 70th anniversary year of the Stratocaster®—the Fender Custom Shop introduces a model that captures the look and tone of a Strat® from an especially distinctive and sought-after era: the Limited Edition 1964 L-Series Stratocaster®. Its two-piece select alder body wears a Heavy Relic® lacquer finish that beautifully imparts the look and feel of a mid-’60s Strat® that has endured decades of heavy wear and tear, in Three-Color Sunburst, Aged Daphne Blue, Aged Olympic White and Aged Sage Metallic Green.
Its rift-sawn maple neck is fashioned with a comfortably easy-playing 1963-style “C”-shaped profile, topped by a round-lam rosewood fingerboard with a compound radius (7.25” to 9.5”) 21 medium vintage (47095) frets and a bone nut. Classic Strat® tone of that period comes from three Custom Shop hand-wound ’64 Stratocaster® pickups (reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup for hum cancellation in switch positions 2 and 4) that deliver clear highs, well-balanced mids and tight lows, routed through five way switching and Vintage Modified #2 wiring with the Tone-Saver bleed circuit, which eliminates tone loss when volume is turned down.
Other premium features include a three-ply mint green pickguard, Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuners, wing string tree with tall metal spacer, deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

This beautiful hand-made instrument is inspired by and crafted in tribute to the famous "Gibson-Huberman" Stradivarius violin built by Antonio Stradivari in 1713 and now owned by Grammy award-winning violinist Joshua Bell.
The storied violin is so named for an early owner, British violinist George Alfred Gibson, and most famously for a subsequent owner, Polish violinist Bronisław Huberman, from whom the instrument was stolen twice - first in 1919 in Vienna (recovered shortly thereafter), and again in 1936 in New York, when it was taken from Huberman's dressing room during a performance at Carnegie Hall. He never saw it again. The violin was recovered in 1985 after the thief - a violin player himself who used shoe polish to disguise the instrument for 50 years - made a deathbed confession. After a nine-month restoration in the late 1980s, the instrument was sold at auction to British violinist Norbert Brainin.
Bell acquired the violin in 2001, and it is he who gave the exclusive privilege of examining the instrument to Fender Custom Shop principal master builder Yuriy Shishkov, who has captured the 300-year-old violin's essence in the Violinmaster Telecaster. The guitar is fashioned with the look and feel of a Stradivari violin, from the same materials and sources used by the great Italian luthier more than three centuries ago.
Its hollow flame maple body has a carved "Stradivari" spruce top from northern Italy's Fiemme Valley, with proportionately scaled Stradivarius violin f-holes and purfling. The neck is constructed of Bosnian flame maple with an oval "C"-shaped profile, headstock truss rod adjustment and no skunk stripe. The 9.5"-radius round-laminated ebony fingerboard has 22 medium jumbo frets. Both neck and body feature an authentic European hand-polished violin varnish "Antiqued" finish.
Three passive piezo pickups and two TV Jones® Thunder'Blade pickups offer a wide variety of tonal options, with three-way pickup switching. Additional features include a custom Fender "patent pending" floating bridge with interchangeable saddles, black tuning machines with ebony buttons, graphite nut and disc string tree. Also includes a custom flight case, mini violin case for the interchangeable bridge saddles and certificate of authenticity.

The “Wizard” amplifier built by Fender’s custom amp expert Jim Dolmage is a true pop culture memorabilia–using parts and materials from a vintage pinball machine. A showpiece that will appeal to guitar, pinball machine, movie memorabilia and Americana collectors alikeThe Wizard amplifier’s enclosure is constructed entirely from wood and metal recycled from the 40-year old Bally® pinball machine. The original vintage stenciled paintwork gives off an almost “carnival” atmosphere with a rattlesnake motif inside and out. The heavy plywood and metal trim lend a significant “attack” to the expressive sound of the ’57 Custom Pro-Amp circuitry, which is warmed up by the stout 15-inch Eminence® speaker.

If there were a Mount Rushmore of Stratocaster Masters, Stevie Ray Vaughan would be one of the greats enshrined there. Almost single-handedly responsible for the electric blues revival of the 80s and 90s, he used his beloved Strat®, to blaze his way to the top of the charts. Only the artisans at the Custom Shop could craft this guitar that Vaughan co-designed with us before his untimely passing. It’s one of the most revered guitars in the world, and we’re proud to make it a permanent addition to the Custom Artist Collection.
SRV heavily modified his Strat to match his energetic, yet controlled, playing style. We included a trio of hot, high-output Custom Shop Hand-Wound Texas Special pickups for fiery, authentically Fender tone that’s as big as the Lone Star state. As an homage to his personal hero, Jimi Hendrix (who’s also been known to pick up a Strat) SRV used a left-handed vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge on his guitar, allowing him to work the tremolo arm with his elbow—a modification we cheerfully recreated. The two-piece body is crafted from alder selected for its weight and grain, and its Relic lacquer finish will age and wear in a distinctly personal way, just like the original. The tinted riftsawn maple neck has an “Oval C” profile that’s slightly thinner on the treble side, making it easier to bend those strings into the stratosphere—a precise recreation of his favorite guitar’s neck profile.
Other features include 5-way pickup switching, vintage-style wiring, 3-ply Black “SRV” pickguard, vintage-style tuning machines, rosewood fingerboard, bone nut and wing string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
