Rosanne Cash is one of the country’s pre-eminent singer-songwriters, as well as the author of a bestselling memoir, “Composed.” She has released 15 albums of extraordinary songs that have earned four GRAMMY® Awards and 12 additional nominations. She is one of only a handful of women in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and is the 2021 recipient of the prestigious Edward MacDowell Medal, awarded to an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to American culture. She is the first woman composer to receive this honor. Her music incorporates elements of folk, pop, Americana, rock, and blues, so she requires a very versatile guitar that can follow her in any direction that her muse takes her.

 The new Gibson Custom Shop Rosanne Cash J-185 was made in collaboration with this legendary artist and delivers exceptional versatility. It features a flame maple body that is slightly thinner for superior playing comfort, a thermally-aged Sitka spruce top, and a SlimTaper™ 24.75” mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard that’s outfitted with 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. The Gibson logo and Crown are also mother-of-pearl, as is the Cash logo on the unique-to-this model, designed by Rosanne and her husband, John Leventhal, with inspiration from her father’s iconic J-200 pickguard shape. Baggs™ VTC under saddle pickup and preamp system makes this guitar ready for any stage or studio as soon as you take it out of the included custom Rosanne Cash hardshell case. The legacy of Gibson’s “King of the Flat-Tops” lives on in the SJ-200 60s Original. From its inaugural appearance in 1937, the Gibson SJ-200™ set an unmatched standard. The SJ-200 60s Original continues the legacy of one of the world’s most famous and popular acoustic guitars. The SJ-200 60s Original replicates the SJ-200 as it appeared in the 1960s, a time when the model could be found in the hands of such noteworthy players as Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and Jimmy Page, among others. This is the SJ-200 as used on some of the most legendary songs and albums ever recorded.

The SJ-200 60s Original features a AAA figured maple body, with a checkerboard marquetry strip down the center of the back, a solid AAA Sitka spruce top, and is presented in distinctive 60s-style nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. The two-piece maple neck has a walnut stringer and a comfortable Round profile, and a narrower 1.687” nut width as found on SJ-200 guitars from that era, which makes first-position chords easier to play. The rosewood fretboard is dressed up with classic mother-of-pearl graduated crown inlays, one of the visual hallmarks of the SJ-200, and is equipped with 20 standard frets. The no-border SJ-200 pickguard features the instantly-identifiable and iconic graphics, and the solid rosewood Moustache™ bridge is also adorned with mother-of-pearl hourglass and teardrop inlays. In a nod to the preferences of many modern players, instead of a Tune-O-Matic™, the SJ-200 60s Original features a bone saddle. The SJ-200 60s Original comes equipped with gold Grover® Rotomatic® tuners for solid tuning stability, a bone nut, and TUSQ® bridge pins, and it is stage and studio-ready with an internal L.R. Baggs™ VTC under-saddle pickup and preamp system with volume and tone controls discretely mounted in the soundhole. A Gibson hardshell case is also included to keep this iconic guitar safe during travel.
