Built to honor the innovative spirit that drove Bob Taylor's guitar designs dating back to the early years, the Legacy 714ce celebrates the Grand Auditorium body shape that Bob introduced to the world in 1994. This model boasts a tonewood pairing not currently found in the standard Taylor line: Indian rosewood back and sides with a Western Red cedar top, voiced with the same X-bracing pattern used in the first Grand Auditorium guitars. The result is an exceptionally warm, mellow response with remarkable touch sensitivity that doesn't lose clarity in the treble range. Visually, this model reflects the understated aesthetic Bob preferred for his guitars of three decades ago, with appointments including black binding with black and white pinstripes, dot fretboard inlays in green abalone with a matching three-ring rosette, ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots, a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard, gold tuning machines, and a gloss-finished body paired with a satin-finished neck. Subtle updates include a modern Taylor neck profile offering relaxed fretting and simple adjustability, along with a slightly newer version of the Dreadnought body that still dates back to Taylor's earlier days. Appointments recall the original details of early 800 Series guitars, including white binding, a three-ring rosette in green abalone, mother-of-pearl Large Diamond fretboard inlays, a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard, and ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots.
