First introduced in 1942, the Gibson J-45 ™ has remained a mainstay Gibson acoustic model. It has earned its name as "The Workhorse" due to its wide acceptance, no-nonsense simplicity, and understated elegance. It's one of the most recorded acoustic guitars in history and Gibson's best-selling acoustic model of all time. Handcrafted with care in Bozeman, Montana, by Gibson's expert acoustic luthiers, the new Gibson J-45 Special offers players a USA-built Gibson acoustic guitar at a very attractive price. The J-45 Special has a round shoulder body constructed using genuine solid mahogany for the back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top. The top is reinforced with our traditional scalloped X-bracing. This combination of tonewoods delivers a warm, balanced tone with excellent dynamic range that is great for any musical genre. The "concert depth" body is slightly thinner than on a J-45 Standard, giving the J-45 Special a leaner and tighter bass response that sits perfectly in the mix and also makes it easier to hold. The utile neck is attached to the body with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint, and like all Gibson acoustic guitars, it is affixed with hot hide glue. The neck has a comfortable and fast-playing Slim Taper ™M profile, and the rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius and is adorned with simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays and is fitted with 20 standard frets. The traditional belly-up rosewood bridge is equipped with a TUSQ® saddle, and the nut and bridge pins are also TUSQ. High-quality Grover® Rotomatic® tuners ensure solid tuning stability. The J-45 Special is finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer in vour choice of Satin Vintage Sunburst or Satin Wine Red. It comes with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle piezo pickup with active electronics and an easily accessible soundhole-mounted volume control pre-installed for studio-quality plug-and-play anywhere. The J-45 Special also comes with a premium soft shell case.

The J-45™ was first released in 1942. It became widely known as “The Workhorse” due to its no-nonsense simplicity and understated elegance. It is Gibson’s best-selling acoustic guitar model of all time and one of the most recorded acoustic guitars in history, and it has graced countless recordings and concert stages in the hands of artists across a wide range of genres. Now, Gibson is proud to introduce the updated J-45 Studio Rosewood. The J-45 Studio Rosewood is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, using all-solid tonewoods, including a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer-finished Sitka spruce top for wide dynamic range, playing responsiveness, and balanced tone. The satin nitrocellulose lacquer-finished rosewood used for crafting the back and sides delivers a bit more rich-sounding bass and sparkling treble overtones than the traditional mahogany-bodied J-45 models. The J-45 Studio Rosewood’s full-depth, round shoulder body ensures rich, deep tone and outstanding volume and projection. The J-45 Studio Rosewood is equipped with an Advanced Response profile and satin nitrocellulose lacquer-finished utile neck for smooth, easy playability. The Advanced Response neck profile sits in between some of the other Gibson neck profiles and is not too large or too thin but fits “just right” in the hand for many players. The rosewood fretboard has 20 standard-sized frets and is adorned with the simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays, one of the visual hallmarks of the iconic J-45. The fretboard’s 16” radius makes playing fast note runs easy and efficient, contributing further to the model’s excellent playability. You’ll find yourself reaching for this guitar again and again since playing it is so enjoyable. The headstock is equipped with smooth and precise Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines and a Graph Tech® TUSQ® nut for rock-solid tuning stability so you can spend more time playing and less time tuning. The saddle and bridge pins installed on the belly-up bridge plate are also TUSQ. The J-45 Studio Rosewood has an L.R. Baggs™ Element Bronze active under-saddle piezo pickup with a quick-to-access soundhole-mounted volume control for easy studio-quality plug-and-play anywhere. Packaged in a modern hardshell case for portability and protection, the J-45 Studio Rosewood is ready to join you wherever your music takes you.

The music of multiple award-winning artist Margo Price transcends the boundaries of traditional country, Americana, and classic rock, and her Gibson J-45™ acoustic has always been by her side during her rise as a top country artist. Gibson Custom's Margo Price J-45 embodies the spirit, vision, and talent that has driven Margo to stardom and continues the nature-themed model tradition of Gibson. The Margo Price J-45 was inspired by her mid-60s J-45, a guitar she's called "my main baby; my guitar I play all the time." The Margo Price J-45 features a slightly thinner mahogany body with a red spruce top with traditional hand-scalloped advanced X-bracing, a mahogany neck with a Rounded profile and rosewood fretboard, and Grover® strap tuners with white buttons. The nut and saddle are bone, and the bridge pins are TUSQ®. The Margo Price J-45 also comes equipped with L.R. Baggs electronics, so it's studio and stage-ready right out of the included hardshell case. Margo was also inspired by red-tailed hawks, which feature prominently on the distinctive double 50s-style pickguards of her new signature guitar. As Margo says, "Red-tailed hawks have always been symbolistic to me. I see them everywhere, and I always have, as they are common all over the United States, but to me, they are otherworldly, and they always come to me in my time of need with messages of strength and perseverance. Red, as a color, relates to love, passion, and even anger, matters that we typically would associate with the heart, but if you look closely, the ends of the feathers are dipped in white, and the bird itself has a spiritual nature to them. When I'm on long road trips, I look out the window and count them alongside the highway. They pass over me at the most kismet times, reminding me to find strength in my vulnerability and to open up and connect to those around me. I hope this guitar will remind those who play it these lessons as well."
