The Guild D-40 Traditional embodies the features that have made the D-40 one of Guild’s most beloved and revered models. Using a high-grade solid Sitka spruce top and solid African mahogany back and sides, Guild adds scalloped Adirondack braces for power, nuance and responsiveness. The D-40 Traditional’s three piece mahogany and walnut neck is topped with an Indian rosewood fingerboard and is joined to the body with an authentic dovetail joint. This classic dreadnought is handsomely appointed with a tortoiseshell pickguard, rosette, and binding, a genuine mother-of-pearl Guild peak and chesterfield logo inlaid on the headstock, and nickel-plated open gear tuners. A lustrous nitrocellulose lacquer provides an elegant finish to this masterpiece, optimizing the beauty and resonant qualities of its premium woods.
Each D-40 Traditional includes a hand-signed, numbered certificate of authenticity, and ships with a Guild humidified hardshell case. Available in Natural or with an Antique Sunburst top. Proudly made in the USA.

The Nyatoh neck provides a rich mid-low end.
A Walnut fretboard features a well-balanced tonal character from low to high end.
Solid Sitka Spruce top provides an enormous frequency range that offers wave after wave of shimmering highs along with tight mids and a full-bodied low end.
Sapele back and sides offer a full-bodied and warm mid-range and a bright tone.
The Walnut bridge transfers string vibration directly to the body, delivering a natural and warm tone.
Its thin, compact body and superior high fret access contribute to the superb playability of this guitar.
It has less feedback as there’s no sound hole on the body top. Fan bracing, which is commonly used for classical guitars, allows this guitar to have a warm and natural nylon string sound.
The sound port on the body side allows you to feel and hear the pure acoustic tone of this guitar more clearly and directly.
The combination of a narrow 46mm width nut and 400R fretboard radius offers easy fingering.
The Ibanez T-bar Undersaddle pickup accurately translates that full sound to whatever amplification system you plug it into.

These pins really are an advantage over old-fashioned pins. Advantage™ pins are easier to take out and easier to put in than standard pins. A special bulb-shaped end makes the pin easy to grip and also prevents the pin from being pushed in too far. Best of all, with Advantage™ the pin and string stay put.
