The story of "Greeny" is shrouded in mystery, but few guitars are as illustrious. Greeny is one of the most iconic original Les Paul Standards ever made, with a unique sound as recognizable as the guitar itself. Previously owned by Peter Green, it was used throughout his time with Fleetwood Mac and later sold to Gary Moore, who used it for three decades with Thin Lizzy and as a solo artist. Now owned by Kirk Hammett, Greeny has passed through the hands of three legendary guitarists. Its distinctive sound is partly from the out-of-phase middle switch position due to the neck pickup's reversed magnetic polarity. The Kirk Hammett "Greeny" Les Paul Standard was inspired by this legendary guitar and gives players around the world the opportunity to experience some of the magic of "Greeny" for themselves. The Les Paul™ Custom was first introduced in 1953 as an upscale version of the Les Paul model. The model was requested by Les Paul himself, who wanted a black version of the Les Paul guitar that “looked like a tuxedo.” In 1961, the single cutaway Les Paul Custom was discontinued in favor of a new double-cutaway model that would later become known as the SG™ Custom, and the original single cutaway model was reintroduced in 1968. During the 1970s, production of the Les Paul Custom transitioned from Kalamazoo to Nashville, and the Les Paul Custom received various changes that further refined the model, including a multi-piece maple top that replaced the original all-mahogany-body construction along with a new maple neck. Today, these 70s-era Les Paul Customs are some of the fastest-appreciating guitars on the vintage market. Now, after 20 years of offering the Les Paul Custom only through Gibson Custom, Gibson is proud to release the Les Paul Custom 70s. It features classic 1970s specs, including a mahogany body with a three-piece maple top. The body is bound with 5-ply top binding and 3-ply back binding. The maple neck has a 70s profile and a volute and is topped with a bound ebony fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and mother-of-pearl block inlays. The bound headstock is also adorned with mother-of-pearl in the form of the famous Custom Split Diamond mother-of-pearl headstock inlay, which originated with the Gibson Super 400 and has become synonymous with the Les Paul Custom. The Les Paul Custom 70s features gold hardware, including an aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, and smooth-turning Grover® Rotomatic® with Keystone button tuners for reliable tuning stability. Even the smallest details have been recreated, including Posi-Lok™ strap locks, a 5-ply pickguard, and 70s-era-approved Witch Hat control knobs. The electronics are also era-appropriate, with a pair of Calibrated T-Type humbuckers™ with individual volume and tone controls that are hand-wired to Orange Drop® capacitors. The Les Paul Custom 70s is available in four gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, including Ebony, Tobacco Burst, Wine Red, and even a version with a beautiful Buttercream Top, and each comes packed in a hardshell case for protection when it’s in storage and traveling. The Les Paul Junior’s very Special younger brother

The Gibson Les Paul™ Junior was first introduced in 1954 as an affordable, high-quality solidbody electric guitar designed for students. Compared to the standard Les Paul models of the era, the Les Paul Junior was stripped down to the essentials, omitting the carved maple top, fretboard and body top binding, second pickup and its controls, and the more ornate decorative features of the standard Les Paul, leaving a slab mahogany body and single pickup-equipped model that could be priced more attractively for beginners. Then, in 1955, to create an intermediate-level guitar that sat between the standard Les Paul model and the Les Paul Junior in the product lineup, Gibson released an enhanced version of the Junior, featuring a second pickup, additional controls, and a bound fretboard, and christened it the Les Paul Special. With its unbound, slab mahogany body, the Les Paul Special is closer to the Junior than to standard Les Paul models in some respects, but it adds a second pickup with separate volume and tone controls, a pickup selector switch, and ups the cosmetic appeal a bit with its bound fretboard and mother-of-pearl Gibson headstock inlay. Like the Les Paul Junior, the Les Paul Special’s relatively simple appearance disguises the wide range of tonal options available from the two Soapbar P-90 pickups and the individual volume and tone controls; by adjusting your picking hand position, as well as varying the settings on the knobs, you can coax an impressive range of very cool tones out of a Special.

The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble delivers all of the features and performance of our regular Les Paul Standard 50s models but with even more vintage appeal. These limited-run Les Paul models differ from our standard Les Paul Standard 50s models in two respects. First, the Burstbucker™M 1 and Burstbucker 2 pickups are left uncovered, and each has Double Classic White bobbins and is fitted with the standard Alnico 2 magnets. The second difference is in the finish. The finish colors are "Vintage" variations on our standard nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. Our standard gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes represent the finishes on brand-new models from the 1950s, while the full-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer Vintage finishes on the Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble models are slightly faded when compared to the standard versions, like the subtly faded light vintage aging that occurs over several years. The burst patterns vary somewhat from guitar to guitar since each is individually hand-sprayed.

Of course, all of the standard features that make the Les Paul Standard 50s models so widelv loved are all still here, including a solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body with an AA figured maple top and a rounded 50s Vintage-style mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and trapezoid inlays. The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble is equipped with an ABR-1, the classic-style Tune-O-Matic ™M bridge, an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons, and aged gold Top Hat knobs with dial pointers. The uncovered, calibrated Burstbucker ™M 1 (neck) and Burstbucker 2 (bridge) pickups are internally the same as their standard Burstbucker counterparts, with the exception of the Double Classic White bobbins. They are handcrafted in the Gibson Pickup Shop, loaded with Alnico 2 magnets, and hand-wired with audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors. The Double Classic White pickup bobbins and Vintage finishes combine to give the Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble an elegant vintage vibe. While they have a vintage-style finish and an accessible price, production is limited to only 500 guitars in each color, meaning there's limited availability, so act fast and get your favorite now while you still can!
