The MESA/Boogie Bass 400+, apex model of MESA’s long-running and storied tube Bass Amplifier Line, reigned supreme throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s with those looking to upgrade their tone with a Boutique-class tube Head. With a supremely musical tube preamp, powerful 7-Band Graphic EQ, mighty bank of 12x6L6 output section and a power supply ready to deliver instantaneous pitch, punch and power on demand, amazing Bass Tone was a given.
Top Artists from Jazz to R&B, Funk and Blues to Stadium Rock, including Sir Paul, chose the 400+ for Tone, stage and studio, citing its defined attack, clear pitch and exciting, lead-the Band, dynamic content. Now the classic gets an update, keeping pace with the times and modern Bassists needs while retaining all the nuanced Tone of the original, yet without the cumbersome size and weight.
Introducing the MESA Boogie B-800D, the Class D-powered imagining of our B400+, with the sound and attributes from it, combined with highlights from our successful Subway Line of Bass offerings. The Tube preamp follows architecture and ques from the 400+ along with Boogie Channel topography from our popular Subway TT-800. From there added gain and further tweaks are included to achieve an even warmer, tube-enhanced character and further capability for subtle, musically-relevant overdrive.
The 400’s Graphic EQ has been retired in favor of more relevant, simplicity-minded switches offering voicing options proven perfect and preferred by customers in our Subway Line. These include Preamp Gain - LOW and HIGH – a DEEP with bypass and a BRIGHT with bypass, all perfectly positioned on the Front Panel and tailored for adding just what you want quickly and succinctly without the finicky tweaking Graphic EQs can call for. These savvy features are joined by the addition of our popular HIGH PASS rotary control, which allows the dialing out of sub-lows that can crowd a mix or pull down cohesiveness in the overdrive, as well as the time, accurately with a friendly, musical approach.
Further welcome upgrades from the original include SPEAK-ON style locking Speaker Outputs, a comprehensive Impedance Switch offering 2, 4 and 8 Ohm operation to cover your Cabinet choices, a HEADPHONE Output, a MUTE remote-triggering jack, AUX IN and TUNER OUT jacks as well as a handy USB DEVICE POWER jack.
Now you can have the Bass 400+’s iconic tube tone and warm, musical character with added new overdrive potential, mated with the stunning power, clarity and time-domain accuracy of our Subway Line’s top Class D models. The Mesa Subway D-350 is the ultra-compact champ in MESA’s Subway Bass Series and, at only 3 pounds, represents the smallest, lightest bass amp in MESA history! While ultra-portable, it still packs a powerful punch with 350 watts of Class D power – All from a simple, intuitive feature set that provides all the tone-shaping tools you need and nothing you don’t to deliver the tone, feel, and response that has made the Subway Series our most popular to date.
LEGENDARY MESA HERITAGE
Building on the foundation laid by our acclaimed Subway® D-800TM, the Subway D-350 uses a solid-state preamp coupled with a lightweight Class D power amp and switch-mode power supply to deliver heaping portions of world-class TONE in an incredibly small and lightweight package that’s perfect for home use and studio recording while still delivering plenty of power and punch to provide MESA-quality tone authoritatively and dependably for small and mid-sized venues, gig after gig.
ALL THE FEATURES YOU NEED, WITHOUT COMPLEXITY
The MESA Subway D-350 easily adapts for use with active or passive basses with the flip of the Active/Passive switch, while the Input Mute switch lets you use inline tuners silently. The Bright switch adds bite and sparkle to the tone and opens up the top end a bit more, and all the switches have LED status indicators. Separate Gain and Master Volume controls allow you to dial up a wide range of tones from shimmering clean to mild overdrive and everything in between, while the built-in fixed high-pass filter (HPF) blocks unwanted, non-musical, headroom-robbing sub-sonic frequencies.
The Variable Voicing control adjusts the amp’s response from a flatter curve to a more vintage curve by modifying and varying levels and frequency response in multiple regions with the turn of a single knob. The fully active 4-band Baxandall EQ features fixed frequency high and low-frequency shelving controls, as well as fixed frequency Low Mid and High Mid peak/dip bands for even more tonal control.
OUTPUTS FOR ONE AND ALL
When you’re practicing at home, the Aux Input and Headphones output jacks let you listen to a media player and your bass simultaneously without disturbing others. The Subway D-350 also has a USB power port for powering accessories, while the fully-featured balanced XLR direct output (DI) with pre/post EQ source, ground lift, and Mic/Line level switches are perfect for delivering MESA’s legendary tone to the front-of-house PA or your recording system’s audio interface. A pair of speakONTM jacks allow you to connect one or two speaker cabinets; the Subway D-350 is an excellent partner for MESA’s highly musical Subway® Ultra-Lite cabinets.
With its ideal combination of small size, light weight, ample power, and stellar tonal flexibility, the Subway D-350 is perfect for recording sessions, small to mid-sized venues, or as a micro-sized backup amp on tour.

Subway Ultra-Light design applied here creates a viable, manageable option for big cab Tone in a compact footprint. Most who experience the 2x12 Ultra-Lite are immediately impressed with its giant sound and fullness. They are typically equally impressed with its light weight and portability. When used in tandem with a second 2x12, shocking depth, boldness and coverage are unveiled.
