To celebrate 70 years of the Stratocaster®—the platinum anniversary of the world’s greatest electric guitar—the Fender Custom Shop introduces the Limited Edition 70th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster®. Its two-piece select ash body (with offset seam on the treble side) resonates with singing highs, sweet midrange and tight lows, and wears a gorgeous Wide Fade Two-Color Sunburst lacquer finish in a number of Custom Shop treatments with varying degrees of wear, including Time Capsule, NOS, Deluxe Closet Classic, Relic®, Journeyman Relic®, Heavy Relic® and Super Heavy Relic®.
Its one-piece quartersawn maple neck is fashioned with a special 70th anniversary Soft “V” profile based on an incredible Strat® neck from July 1954. This is topped with vintage compound-radius fingerboard (7.25” to 9.5”) with 21 medium vintage (47095) frets and a 1.625” bone nut. Three Custom Shop hand-wound ’54 Strat® pickups deliver that classic Strat® voice with clear, bell-like highs, routed through vintage '54 Strat® wiring with wax paper cap and five-way switching.
Other premium features and authentic first-year Strat® appointments include a single-ply white pickguard and serial-number back plate, 1954-style ABS white pickup covers and control knobs, Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuners, disc string tree, special 70th Anniversary Stratocaster® neck plate, deluxe embroidered hardshell case, special “case candy” kit and certificate of authenticity.

Custom Shop hand-wound '64 pickups (with reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup) are connected to a five-way switch and vintage modified #2 wiring with tone-saver bleed, which features a master volume, tone #1 (neck and middle pickups), and tone #2 (bridge) with treble bleed (for keeping mids and rolling off highs without adding bass). A chambered and roasted pine body and knotty pine top with f-hole deliver steadfast tone with enduring resonance, all with the exquisite look of brown-shell top binding and rope purfling. A roasted 2A birdseye maple neck with round-lam rosewood fingerboard features a '60-style oval "C" back-shape, 9.5" fingerboard radius and 21 narrow tall frets.
Hand-wound Loaded Nocaster® pickups feature three-way switching and Fat '50s Tele® wiring, which creates stronger tone with a transparent bloom and minimizes treble loss that typically occurs when rolling back volume. Other features include a brown-shell Caballo Tono pickguard, '58-'63 Tele bridge with compensated RSD saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and a wing string tree. George Fullerton went to work for his close friend, Clarence "Leo" Fender, on Feb. 2, 1948, at the Fender® Electric Instrument Co. on Pomona Ave. in Fullerton, Calit. He became Leo Fender's right-hand man and, as such, played a pivotal role in the design and manufacture of then-revolutionary instruments and amplifiers that went on to rule the world. The Telecaster® guitar. The Precision® Bass guitar. The Bassman® amp And of course, the Stratocaster® guitar.
1957 was a benchmark year for the Stratocaster. The model had evolved quickly since its debut three years earlier, and 1957 was the year during which, many agree, the Stratocaster truly came into its own as an archetypal instrument, the year that a startlingly original design began to truly assert its role not only as a musical force, but also as a cultural icon that both fueled and reflected ages to come
Now, exactly 50 years later, the Fender Custom Shop is thrilled to say "Welcome home" to George Fullerton, whose legacy is honored with this very special instrument- one on which Mr. Fullerton himself has collaborated with our skilled Master Builders-The Limited Edition George Fullerton 50T Anniversary 1957 Stratocaster guitar.
Together with its accompanying Relic Tweed Pro Jr. IM amplifier, this instrument evokes the sheer devotion to craftsmanship and pioneering 1950s spirit of Fender; a spirit that George Fullerton personally helped found and foster, and a legendary guitar that he personally had an invaluable hand in creating. It is our fond and sincere hope that you enjoy playing this instrument as much as we enjoyed creating it with Mr. Fullerton.

In 2024—the 70th anniversary year of the Stratocaster®—the Fender Custom Shop introduces a model that captures the look and tone of a Strat® from an especially distinctive and sought-after era: the Limited Edition 1964 L-Series Stratocaster®. Its two-piece select alder body wears a Heavy Relic® lacquer finish that beautifully imparts the look and feel of a mid-’60s Strat® that has endured decades of heavy wear and tear, in Three-Color Sunburst, Aged Daphne Blue, Aged Olympic White and Aged Sage Metallic Green.
Its rift-sawn maple neck is fashioned with a comfortably easy-playing 1963-style “C”-shaped profile, topped by a round-lam rosewood fingerboard with a compound radius (7.25” to 9.5”) 21 medium vintage (47095) frets and a bone nut. Classic Strat® tone of that period comes from three Custom Shop hand-wound ’64 Stratocaster® pickups (reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup for hum cancellation in switch positions 2 and 4) that deliver clear highs, well-balanced mids and tight lows, routed through five way switching and Vintage Modified #2 wiring with the Tone-Saver bleed circuit, which eliminates tone loss when volume is turned down.
Other premium features include a three-ply mint green pickguard, Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuners, wing string tree with tall metal spacer, deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

The one-piece 4A flame maple neck has a big, comfortable 10/’56 Soft “V” profile, topped by a 9.5”-radius fingerboard with 21 gold Medium Vintage (47095) frets, abalone dot markers and a bone nut. Pure sonic Strat® magic comes from three Custom Shop hand-wound Fat ’50s Stratocaster® pickups with gold magnets, delivering crisp highs and well-balanced mids and lows. Other custom appointments include an off-center-seam ash body, 1967 “C” neck profile, 7.25”-radius round-laminated quartersawn maple fingerboard with 21 vintage frets and black pearloid face dots, and a Joe Glaser B-Bender system for extra Nashville twang. Deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity included.
