These limited-run Les Paul models differ from our standard Les Paul Standard 50s models in two respects. First, the Burstbucker™M 1 and Burstbucker 2 pickups are left uncovered, and each has Double Classic White bobbins and is fitted with the standard Alnico 2 magnets. The second difference is in the finish. The finish colors are "Vintage" variations on our standard nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. Our standard gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes represent the finishes on brand-new models from the 1950s, while the full-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer Vintage finishes on the Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble models are slightly faded when compared to the standard versions, like the subtly faded light vintage aging that occurs over several years. This modern version captures the look and vibe of his original with only the features that Marcus finds essential, including mono wiring, a pair of Custombucker humbucker™ pickups, a fixed Vibrola™ tailpiece for improved tuning stability, and a stud anchor cover customized specifically for Marcus King. Mark Morton is an American GRAMMY®-nominated musician who is the lead guitarist and one of the founding members of the groove metal band Lamb of God. Mark is best known for his bold and potent, yet melodic lead guitar playing that incorporates elements of groove metal, thrash, and death metal.

That same boldness is captured in the new Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt. Mark’s new signature guitar features a striking AAA quilted maple top that is paired with a mahogany body with Ultra Modern weight relief that makes it a joy to play for hours on end. The mahogany neck has a SlimTaper™ profile and is equipped with a Modern Contoured Heel for exceptional access to the upper frets. The fretboard is ebony, has a compound radius, and is outfitted with 22 medium jumbo frets and adorned with mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays. The Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt is powered by a pair of Mark Morton signature humbucker™ pickups that were handcrafted by the Gibson Pickup Shop to deliver Mark’s signature sound. The rhythm pickup has moderate, Patent Applied For-class windings with a ceramic magnet for increased clarity and output, while the lead pickup has higher output windings with a ceramic magnet for increased presence and output. The pickups are connected to a three-way pickup selector switch and hand-wired to individual volume and tone controls, with Orange Drop® capacitors used for the tone controls.

The Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt is finished in a smooth satin nitrocellulose lacquer, and the Translucent Ebony Burst Satin finish beautifully complements the AAA quilted maple top and is highlighted by multiple chrome hardware accents, including Grover® Rotomatic®, locking tuners with Keystone buttons, a chrome jack plate cover, black with chrome trim cover pickup mounting rings, and chrome pickup covers. The truss rod cover features a reproduction of Mark’s signature, and a pack of Mark’s signature Stringjoy strings is also included, along with a Gibson Accessory Kit, inside the included Modern hardshell case. The mahogany neck features Noel Gallagher's preferred Slim Taper ™M neck profile and is topped with a bound rosewood fretboard, which has 22 medium jumbo frets and is adorned with acrylic trapezoid inlays. The hardware includes an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic ™M bridge and aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, which deliver precise intonation and excellent sustain. It also features accurate, smooth-turning Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines with kidnev buttons, as well as a chrome switch washer and output jack plate.
