'Solid American craftsmanship with great tone!
A great jamming banjo that records well, uniquely Deering, The Boston Banjo breaks with tradition and provides a professional quality sound at a lower price point by creating the drum from 3/16" rolled steel which rings like a tone ring.
The powerful and dynamic sound of the Boston comes from that steel rim which creates a bright, clear, crisp tone. The mahogany neck and resonator are satin finished and the precise fretwork in the polished ebony fingerboard makes the intonation accurate and the playing surface fast and effortless. The slender, low-profile Deering neck is comfortable for all hand sizes. Handmade in the USA. Includes case.
"The interesting thing about the steel rim is that when we first started making it we went to the San Diego Bluegrass Club. When we got out of the car we could hear the parking lot picking going on and there would always be one banjo that I could hear all the way across the parking lot. We made a game out of going and finding out whose banjo that was, and over a period of time we started to notice that almost every time it was a Boston. That steel rim has a really good clarity of tone. It carries really well and will project beyond banjos that cost a lot more. It is a really good jamming banjo. We call it the Boston because of the banjo heritage of the city of Boston. Over a hundred years ago the whole Mecca of banjos and the banjo world was centered around the city of Boston." Greg Deering

The new Goodtime Six-R banjo comes hot on the heels of the very popular Goodtime Six open back banjo, but with a few additional features making the Goodtime Six-R ready for the big stage both in looks and in build.
Most notably, the Goodtime Six-R features a radiused midnight maple finger board, offering the player a striking contrast to the normal blonde of the hard rock maple neck.
Tonally, the Goodtime Six-R is elevated by the addition of a maple resonator behind it's 11” 3-ply violin grade maple rim. Like any banjo, the addition of a resonator not only creates a hollow sound chamber, but also provides a flat surface for the sound to bounce off and project forward towards the players audience, instead of being absorbed by their body. The result is a significantly fuller, clearer and more vibrant tone.
Strings come courtesy of Elixir's XL bronze set, while other features include 6 high quality guitar style tuners, 26 ¼” scale length, ovangkol block inlays, a Deering designed Goodtime 6 string tailpiece and frosted top head.
The Goodtime Six banjos were not designed to replace the guitar, but rather complement it. It affords guitarists the chance to play what they already know with unimaginably creative results.
Easy to play with clarity of note separation and round full bodied tone.

With repeated requests from its customers to create a 6-string Goodtime banjo, Deering focused on giving the customers what they wanted with the new Goodtime Solana 6. The new Goodtime Solana 6 is a new kind of 6-string banjo designed to bring out the creativity in the player and features all of the American craftsmanship and quality that owners of Goodtime banjos have come to expect.
The Solana 6 stands out from the pack thanks to is its nylon strings which offers the player a sweet, mellow tone akin to a classical guitar, but with the bright undertones of a banjo.
The versatility of the Solana 6 is rounded off with a piezo pickup that sits directly under the patented East Indian Rosewood bridge plate, formerly seen only on Deering’s Phoenix 6-string banjo. The bridge plate is placed underneath the hand crafted Deering bridge and is designed to even out the effects of the string vibration resulting in an increased sustain, decrease in boominess, and less feedback allowing the player more freedom in a live performing situation when partnered with the piezo pickup. The sound of the Solana 6 is further enhanced by the new larger Grand 12” rim which creates ample breathing room for the natural low end of the Solana 6, making a bold statement right out of the box.
The rim of the Solana 6 is constructed of the same 3-ply violin grade maple that is at the heart of the entire Deering banjo line up. The rock maple neck features East Indian Rosewood ring style inlays, a classical guitar inspired peghead, and smooth, accurate classical guitar tuners with pearloid buttons. The beautiful blonde maple of the Solana 6 is further complimented by a dark East Indian Rosewood tailpiece which bares the Deering name.

A resonator back provides more projection of sound in the Goodtime Two. We make it here in the USA, at the Deering shop with the same tooling we use to make the top of the line banjos. Greg Deering designed the Goodtime banjos because there were no low priced banjos of enough quality for people to actually learn on without difficulty or giving up. He remembers what it was like to want a good banjo and not be able to afford one, so his gift to others is the Goodtime banjo line. Designed for success, the Goodtime banjos are the lowest priced American made banjos. They are so good many professionals have recorded with Goodtime banjos.
The Goodtime Two weighs 6 lbs - about the weight of a guitar. The Goodtime Two has a natural blonde maple with a satin finish to protect it. The rich, golden tone and the reverberation off the resonator sound great. You can definitely tell a volume difference between open back and a Goodtime Two. The sound waves aren't getting trapped between you and the banjo, which makes a pretty big difference. If you want a great low priced bluegrass banjo for travel and leisure that plays correctly and is durable, this is the best buy on the market!

FOR YOUR BEST PERFORMANCES
The age-old tradition of the banjo stems from ancient African instruments of similar design. But it wasn’t until the early 1830s that the banjo was refined into the uniquely American musical tool that we know today. The Fender FB-58 is a fantastic banjo for players who want the best in performance and sound for country and bluegrass, and even Celtic, jazz and pop. Designed for pros and other serious players, the FB-58 looks as terrific as it sounds, with a flame maple resonator and neck, pearloid inlays and chrome hardware, and it costs considerably less than comparable high-quality banjos.
ROLLED BRASS TONE RING
The tone ring makes a major contribution to a banjo’s tonal character. This brass tone ring is rolled rather than cast, produces clearly ringing tone with great volume and brightness, and doesn’t weigh a banjo down too heavily.
Banjo resonators made of maple create a bright, snappy voice that cuts through other sounds very effectively.
PEARL ACRYLIC INLAYS
Value meets beauty in elegantly stylized position inlays that impart a touch of stylish sophistication to the fingerboard of this finely appointed instrument.

Due to the enormous popularity of the original GT-500 (our SKU #H65736), the GT-750 Banjitar was designed for optimal volume and tone. After numerous tone ring experimentations, a unique 20-hole bell brass tone ring was chosen for its bell-like sound characteristics and chime-like sustain. The brass tone ring provides more acoustic volume and a more focused tone. Upgraded from the GT-500, the GT-750 features the bell brass flat top tone ring, curly maple resonator, and bound fingerboard and resonator. This model also features the Sliding Magnetic Pickup (SMP) with volume control which provides a great banjo-like tone through an amplifier. Final assembly and complete setup performed at the Gold Tone Factory in Florida.
Only a few years ago, a 6-string banjo would have been considered a 'cheater' banjo for guitarists, but today it is well accepted as its own instrument and you will hear the 6-string banjo in many genres of popular music. The GT-750 will certainly be a welcoming addition to any guitarists' arsenal.
