History of the Classic EB Bass
It seems incredible in hindsight but in the early 1960s, the Kalamazoo factory, home to both Epiphone and Gibson instruments, ceased production of the Les Paul guitar and in its place, created the "SG" design. And as it so often does, changes in guitar design also influenced bass design, too. With the Les Paul (temporarily) out of the picture, the SG took over. And for a time during that golden era, the classic SG bass was the historic factory’s sole electric bass offering.
But the EB-0 “SG” bass was by no means a cast-off. It quickly became one of the most attractive basses of the day and players like Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones, Cream’s Jack Bruce and The Who’s John Entwistle made the "EB" style bass a hitmaker. Now, Epiphone presents the EB-0, a stunning recreation of the vintage marvel that has the tone and feel of the original without the vintage price tag and vintage problems.
The Epiphone EB-0 comes with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 customer service. Visit your Authorized Epiphone dealer today and discover the sound of a legend with the EB-0 bass.

A classic bass that put Gibson and Epiphone on the map.
In the early 1960s the Kalamazoo factory, home to both Epiphone and Gibson instruments, decided to cease production of the Les Paul guitar. In its place came a radical new guitar design that also influenced the Kalamazoo factory's bass designs. With the Les Paul (temporarily) out of the picture, the SG took over. And for a time during that golden era of manufacturing, the classic SG bass was the historic factory's sole electric bass.
But the EB "SG" bass was by no means a cast-off. It quickly became one of the most attractive and distinctive basses in rock and players like Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones, Cream's Jack Bruce, and The Who's John Entwistle made rock history on SG-style basses. Now, Epiphone presents the EB-3, a stunning recreation of the vintage marvel with all the tone and feel of the original without the vintage price tag and vintage problems.

The first thing you’ll notice about the B-1004 Multi-Scale and 5-string B-1005 Multi-Scale will likely be its unusual arrangement of frets. A multi-scale fret design optimizes string tension so that the lower strings have a longer scale compared to the higher strings, resulting in consistently excellent tone and performance at all points across the fingerboard. Bass players often report that a multi-scale design is also ergonomically preferential to standard fret designs, and that they feel natural to play, with very little learning curve required. Designed for professional players, the B-1004 Multi-Scale and B-1005 Multi-Scale provide a swamp ash body with a top made of solid ziricote, an environmentally friendly and terrific-looking tonewood. These basses also employ a five-piece wenge/purple heart neck with pau ferro fingerboard, constructed at 36.25" to 34" scale for the B-1004 Multi-Scale and 37” to 34” for the B-1005 Multi-Scale. Its high-end components include a black bone nut, Gotoh tuners, and Hipshot Solo bridge, as well as a set of acclaimed Nordstrand Big Splits hum-cancelling pickups, along with an ABQ-3MS 3-band EQ. This setup gives you incredible flexibility in tone, with an active/passive mini-switch, a mid-frequency selection mini-switch (800Hz or 400Hz), individual bass, treble, and mid EQ controls, and master volume and balance controls.

Jason Smith's Luna Y Sol is a custom Precision Bass inspired by his meeting with artist Madeline Hanlon at last year's Winter NAMM show. Hanlon is known for her artistic style of wood burning, which was integrated into the Mexian fold art sun and mood design. Smith's favorite aspect of the bass is its overall aesthetic appeal - from detailed wood burned image and thematic red coral inlays to the rich, warm wood tones, smooth blend of colors and the feel of the satin lacquer topcoat. This bass feels amazingly comfortable, has a nice medium weight, and the sound of the Josefina Campos overwound pickups just gives the player a sonic experience like a P-Bass on steroids," Smith said. "This bass just seems to have it all, style, class, and tone!"
