The A12eN produces a clear tone and impeccable intonation, plus this guitar is voiced to respond easily to a player’s touch. The underlying design goal of the series is to make the acoustic guitar accessible to more players by bringing Taylor’s legendary playability and tone into an affordable price range.
One of the benefits of a nylon-string guitar is that the light string tension is easy on the fingertips. Another inviting feature is a built-in armrest to enhance the playing comfort. Tonally, the wood pairing of layered sapele back and sides with a solid Lutz spruce top, together with the body’s internal bracing, project a warm, mellow nylon voice with crisp percussive appeal that suits a variety of musical styles and responds well to both fingerpicking and flatpicking.
The onboard ES-B pickup includes a convenient digital tuner with an LED display for tuning and low battery indication. Whether you’re a steel-string player looking to add an affordable nylon-string to your acoustic toolbox or crave a great-sounding acoustic guitar that’s easy on the hands and the wallet, the A12-N is an option well worth exploring.
ES-B Pickup/Preamp Combo
The ES-B pickup incorporates Taylor’s Expression System® 2 piezo design elements and features an onboard preamp with a built-in digital chromatic tuner. The preamp/tuner unit features an LED display for tuning and low battery indication, along with Tone and Volume controls. The preamp/tuner is powered by two button cell 3v lithium (CR2032) batteries. Two new batteries will provide approximately 300 hours of use. The ES-B conserves battery life using a standard on/off system that will automatically turn off if left on over 3 minutes. A low battery indicator on the LED display (located on the preamp circuit board) will display an “L” when the battery reaches 4.5 volts.

This Grand Pacific model is the first of our round-shoulder dreadnoughts to feature back and sides of solid ovangkol, an African tonewood that shares rosewood’s warmth and brilliance with additional presence in the midrange. Topped with solid spruce, the AD17 serves up a blend of sparkle and clean low-end power, enhanced by V-Class bracing for greater volume, longer sustain, and a more in-tune sound. That seasoned, vintage-hued tone is reflected in this model’s strikingly classic look, with a natural top and a deep Urban Sienna color treatment for the ovangkol back and sides. Minimally decorated but finely crafted, the AD17 also features chamfered body edges, stained spruce edge trim, a three-ring rosette in Hawaiian koa, and a faux tortoiseshell pickguard. The 2.0 mil-thick matte body finish minimizes damping for unfettered resonance. It ships in a Taylor AeroCase.

Designed by Bob Taylor and a handpicked team, this new two-channel acoustic/vocal amp combines warm sound, simple controls and elegant woodworking craftsmanship.
Beautiful. Musical. Simple.
What started as a fun side project for Taylor Guitars co-founder Bob Taylor and two other tone-and gear-obsessed Taylor guitar nerds grew into Circa 74, an all-new, 2-in-1 acoustic/vocal amplifier designed to help musicians sound their best in any environment.
The idea: Build a great-sounding acoustic guitar amp you can also sing through. The guiding design thoughts: Make it compatible with a wide range of acoustic guitar pickups and playing environments. Make it practical and easy to use, without over-engineering it with too many controls or effects. Make the cabinet from an acoustic guitar tonewood to bring an extra warm, smooth sonic character to the amplified tone. Give it the elegant aesthetic appeal of a finely crafted piece of furniture. And add Bluetooth connectivity to stream music and play or sing along.
Working on the project reminded Bob of the creative, freewheeling spirit of a startup, like the earliest days of Taylor Guitars, circa ’74 — which gave birth to the name.
Ultimately, the group’s labor of love produced an amp that serves up an ear-pleasing range of acoustic sounds and brings out the very best in musicians looking to be heard.
