Burbank Tobias TCT Preamp
For those seeking an authentic "stock" preamp replacement for their pre-Gibson Tobias bass, the wait is over. Bartolini has reissued the classic Burbank-era CT circuit specifically for Tobias basses, now available under part number HRTCT-5.4AP.
This configuration is a 5-knob, 3-band active preamp featuring controls for Volume (with push/pull active/passive switching), Blend, Treble, Mid, and Bass. The midrange section includes a 3-way frequency switch, offering boost-only options at 250Hz, 500Hz, and 750Hz, while maintaining the traditional TCT mid cut at 300Hz.
This preamp setup mirrors the original electronics found in many of the sought-after Hollywood-era Tobias basses, delivering the tonal flexibility and character that defined that iconic sound.
